Communities Working Group
Improving how research serves our communities
Health and care research has a reach far beyond NHS providers, and we are committed to expanding our scope, vision and membership. The communities working group aims to co-design what a more collaborative approach to research might look like across different organisations with a shared vision, and to identify some priority work areas.
Bridging the organisational gap in health and care research
The group meets every quarter and has several key objectives:
Exploring amendments to wording and communications materials to reflect the change in scope in UKRD.
Consideration of engagement and recruitment methods to expand membership to represent those involved in health and care research beyond the NHS.
Suggest practical measures that UKRD can pursue to support research leadership across communities and neighbourhoods.
Advise on initiatives to increase access and diversity in research specifically in community and neighbourhood settings.
Over time it is intended that the group will grow to encompass members from local authorities, public health, primary care, community organisations, residential settings and the voluntary sector who either work within research roles or have an interest in creating a research community to build capacity, infrastructure and access across community settings.
